Announcing Operation Illumination: Opening God's Word to the Largest Unreached People Group on Earth

When Sunil Sardar began to reach out to India's Other Backward Castes, he brought them the Bible in its Hindi translation.  Their reaction was swift–and negative!  He discovered that the Hindi Bible had been "brahmanized"–riddled with key terms (including the term used for God) that were confusing, or even offensive, to OBCs and other lower-caste Indians.

Sunil gained permission to "debrahmanize" a Hindi translation of the New Testament originally developed by the late Father Kamil Bulke, a Jesuit missionary from Belgium.  Since its release in 2007 (and reprint in 2009), Baliraja Ka Vidhan ("Code of Baliraja) is not just understood, but embraced, by lower-caste Indians.

We are in late stages of preparation to proceed with the development of Phase One of Operation Illumination–bringing God's Word, in acceptable form, to India's OBCs for the first time in history.  In Summer, 2011, we should have portions of Genesis, Exodus and Luke translated from source texts into Hindi & Marathi. Booklets will be published and distributed so that the language can be tested.

Eventually, we will have complete Bibles in language acceptable to over 700 million people! This will involve audio and print, in whatever form the caste leaders we work with believe will be most effective.

With your help, we can open God's word to the largest unreached people group on earth.
